Winterset Park Nature Area Trail — 1 mile
Kicking off our list is the Winterset Park Nature Area Trail, which many consider an easier route. The park itself is 10.2 acres and contains beautiful local wildlife. Though a shorter path, this wood-chipped track exposes walkers to various tree and flower species, waterfalls, and wooden bridges.Â
Upper Rock Ledges Trail at Fleming Park — 2.4 Miles
The Upper Rock Ledges Trail leads hikers to bluffs, at an elevation of 177 feet, so keep in mind if you’re afraid of heights! Dogs on leashes are welcome to walk along with their human(s) on this loop. The route is open year-round and takes an average of about an hour to complete.
Blue Springs Lake North Shore Trail — 9 Miles
A local bike club maintains the Blue Springs Lake North Shore Trail, and hikers are welcome to explore! This scenic path lets you truly experience nature in the town of Lee’s Summit by leading you through deeply wooded areas, cliffs, and the lakefront of Blue Springs Lake. Each direction takes you about 4.5 miles, totaling 9 miles if you walk the trail and back, though your distance can change if you wish to explore alternative paths!
Whether you prefer walking on paved, rocky, or even mulched terrain, the town of Lee’s Summit has plenty of options! This historic area holds some of the prettiest and most nature-filled paths to explore, giving hikers a variety of excellent trails to choose from!Â
