2024 Mazda CX-70 in Lee’s Summit, MO

The Mazda CX-70 was revealed early last year alongside the Mazda CX-90 as part of Mazda’s plan to release three all-new SUVs that began with the 2023 Mazda CX-50 in fall 2022, providing a bright outlook on the future of Mazda vehicles. Currently, we know very little about these two new cars. Still, Mazda says it will have an all-new and larger platform that will feature Mazda’s new longitudinal architecture with new inline-six-cylinder and plug-in hybrid powertrains. These factors will all come together to provide Mazda’s next-level performance in handling, technology, and design.

Very little is currently known about the Mazda CX-70. However, we do know it will be the two-row version of this design, while the CX-90 will feature three rows. Joey Capparella with Car and Driver expects the CX-90 to release first, with the CX-70 expected to release sometime in 2023, according to information obtained from Mazda’s financial presentation. 

Caparella says they expect the engine to have a turbocharger with a 48-volt hybrid system outputting in the mid-300 horsepower range, similar to the European Mazda CX-60’s plug-in setup. They believe that the platform and engine will be more in line with premium vehicles like BMW and be less like Honda or Toyota. They also expect the interior to be superior to other cars in the same price range and have premium materials throughout. They expect the Mazda CX-70 to take after the Mazda CX-60’s interior, with features like Nappa leather, woven textiles, and real wood accents that provide a beautiful dashboard design.
